Round 02 — Maximize Game Revenue
R02-MR-01 — The Unfinished Device Choice
On Morning 1, give the player one scarce block of time before the rain. Astrobot neutrally surfaces two already-existing possibilities: work on the unfinished instrument or speak with the neighbor. The player can inspect both first, but meaningfully pursue only one before the morning advances.
Choose Craft: the player understands one component of the instrument and later gains technical evidence about the anomaly. The neighbor remains available, but the deeper conversation is deferred.
Choose Connection: the neighbor reveals a personal/historical clue that changes how the later rain event is interpreted. The instrument remains unfinished.
Neither route should say “correct,” award morality points, or reveal what the other route would have produced. On Morning 3, both can encounter the same anomaly through different evidence. This directly exercises the existing principle: same place, different tools.
Deferred alternative: Stillness remains viable but should not turn this particular decision into three equivalent menu buttons. It can emerge through choosing not to immediately act—using the already-permitted sit/observe behavior—preserving its distinct character.
Recoverability/accessibility: This is opportunity cost, not punishment. Missing the neighbor or instrument today does not permanently destroy it; another saved run exposes the alternative. Astrobot can provide an accessible baseline explanation such as, “You have time to follow one thing carefully,” without recommending which. Controls must permit inspecting both options before commitment, and the consequence should not depend on catching subtle audio/visual cues alone.
Falsifiable observation: The interaction fails if most players either (a) perceive one option as obviously superior, (b) don't realize their choice changed later evidence, or (c) choose replay merely because the observer explains that content was missed. Strong evidence is spontaneous language such as “I wonder what the neighbor/device would have shown me” followed by voluntary alternate-route selection.
Baseline tension challenged: G1's replay criterion risks rewarding content completionism rather than genuine possibility curiosity. Commercially, that distinction matters enormously: selling additional timelines only works sustainably if players value counterfactual lives, not merely uncovered branches. Round-02 observation should therefore record why players replay, not just whether they do.
Godz 2 response [internal record ID omitted] Round 02 — Godz 2 / Brainstorm Game Revenue
Proposed amendment: Godz2:R02-01 — Choose how to investigate, then inspect what that choice produced.
On morning two, use the existing unfinished instrument and neighbor interaction. Present two understandable possibilities:
- Work on the instrument: try to make the rain’s repeating pattern easier to distinguish.
- Ask the neighbor: seek their account of when they noticed the pattern.
Astrobot explains that there is time for one focused activity this morning. It does not rank either choice or promise success. Both remain available at baseline; established skills deepen the corresponding interaction.
After instrument work, the player can compare an imperfect reading with ordinary observation. After conversation, the notebook contains the neighbor’s account, explicitly attributed rather than established as fact. On morning three, the player can use that evidence or pursue the deferred approach. Both routes support the existing anomaly encounter; neither reveals its full explanation.
Commercial tension: A chapter-first business could encourage withholding satisfying outcomes to sell continuation. G1 must deliver a complete local consequence before inviting replay. Choosing another route should express curiosity about another approach, rather than frustration that the first purchase—or first run—was deliberately incomplete.
Deferred alternative: A combined instrument-and-neighbor investigation is deferred until morning three or another run. No additional encounter, reward system, or branching infrastructure is proposed.
Recoverability and accessibility: The instrument can remain imperfect without becoming useless; an account can remain uncertain without making conversation a wasted turn. Neither choice removes baseline completion. Offer equivalent captions and readable descriptions for sound patterns, text for dialogue, and untimed selection. Explain the morning’s time constraint before commitment.
Falsifiable observation: In the existing six-player G1 test, observe whether players can explain what they gained and what they deferred without prompting. The proposed interaction fails its directional appeal test if most describe the choice as arbitrary, infer one option is the “correct” moral answer, or replay chiefly to recover information they feel unfairly denied. Record those reasons separately from the existing replay count.

Round 02 — Choice Under Constraint
Tension challenged: the baseline says the player should understand opportunity cost, but if Morning 1 explicitly tells them which practice maps to which investigation, the choice risks becoming a disguised class-selection menu: pick Stillness for rhythm, Craft for device, Connection for neighbor. That improves comprehension while potentially killing curiosity.
Godz4:R02-01 — Let attention create the informed commitment.
On Morning 1, preserve the existing free inspection phase. The player may briefly inspect all three opportunities before spending the single substantial-practice slot:
- Terrace/rain: notice that a recurring sound/pattern is difficult to distinguish.
- Instrument/device: discover it is unfinished or poorly calibrated.
- Neighbor: hear a recollection containing an unresolved detail.
Astrobot then asks, essentially: “You have enough time to seriously develop one approach this morning. What deserves your attention?”
Each option states a capability, not its eventual reward:
- Stillness: become better at distinguishing subtle patterns.
- Craft: improve your ability to understand/calibrate the instrument.
- Connection: spend focused time understanding the neighbor's account.
Deferred alternative: choosing one means the other two do not receive substantial practice that morning. Inspection/context remain available, so opportunity cost is meaningful without becoming punishment.
Consequence: Morning 2 immediately gives the chosen capability one concrete use. The player should think, “Ah—that's what my choice enabled,” while still not knowing Morning 3's rain outcome.
Recoverability: switching practice later remains valid and produces the existing mixed/partial route. No choice creates a dead end, broken streak or inferior moral ending.
Accessibility: every clue required to make the Morning-1 decision must have equivalent non-audio/non-flashing presentation. The capability descriptions should be plain language rather than symbolic icons alone.
Falsifiable observation: during the six-player G1 test, ask after their commitment what they believed they were deferring. If most cannot name a meaningful alternative—or describe the decision merely as choosing “the rain/device/NPC route”—this interaction has failed. If players understand the trade-off but still feel no curiosity about the deferred possibilities, the replay premise itself is weakened.
Round 02 — Godz 3 feasibility review
F-R02-01: Morning two presents a continuation-versus-switch decision using existing objects. After an elementary Craft practice, the player can spend today's main effort stabilizing the receiver trace, or follow up with the neighbor on a detail already heard. Freely inspect both before committing. Confirm: "Work on the receiver this morning? You can still talk, but a deeper investigation with the neighbor waits for another run." Do not pretend ordinary conversation is forbidden; distinguish light context from the substantive practice. Continuing Craft produces a repeatable trace after the player tests and revises one calibration hypothesis. Switching preserves the rough trace and adds attributed testimony, without specialist mastery. A wrong calibration gives visible noise and can be adjusted within the same practice; it is not another time charge. A shortened or skipped practice retains old evidence and a baseline rain observation. Use one explicit committed practice per beat and record each outcome once. Define elementary/specialist thresholds as provisional authored rules, not permanent personality classes. Player knowledge acquired on replay does not disappear; character equipment and reliable recording capability still differ. Accessibility: visual comparison and readable trace description, keyboard adjustments, optional assisted calibration, no hearing/reflex prerequisite. Strongest tension: "two understandable possibilities" does not require inventing two dramatic irreversible sacrifices. If the prompt tells every downstream result, choice becomes shopping; show immediate action and deferred opportunity while leaving discovery uncertain. Falsification: players cannot name what they expected to learn or believe the first click accidentally spent the morning. Observe prediction before commitment without coaching, then ability to describe actual feedback. Completability alone is not appeal. Scope: replaces existing practice confirmation/feedback; adds no location, NPC, currency, or day.
Godz 3 cross-objections: Godz I's Stillness through not immediately acting must remain explicitly selectable; idleness or accessibility delays cannot consume a morning or secretly commit a path. Godz 2's morning-three deferred investigation must not grant full specialist capability automatically; shallow baseline interactions remain available, deeper evidence follows actual practice. Godz 4's route-label answer alone is not sufficient evidence of failure: a player can understand causal agency while naming a route. Test whether they can predict an immediate action, see feedback, and explain effect, not vocabulary purity. Preserve scheduled rain on morning three; early cues can use existing observations/context, not add another full rain event. No new cosmology. GOD I TASK: Return only 250–400 words of actual Round 02 challenge/synthesis recommendations: accepted exact interaction contract, reject/modify contradictions above, preserved dissent and next test. Do not reread all attachments, recapitulate Round 01, or generate a full plan. Include source-qualified R02 references. Godz 3 will relay your challenge to the Godz reviewers and simsim. This is Round 02, not later rounds.
