Round 19 Packet

The recorded planning discussion and synthesis. Design review is not implementation or empirical validation.

Public edition of a studio document. Proposals and historical observations retain their original status; local paths and operational identifiers are omitted. The final reviewed master plan records later planning corrections; older design explorations remain historical proposals.

R19-MR-01 — Separate Organic Demand From Platform-Created Demand

Suppose creator encounter X receives homepage prominence plus platform-funded purchase credits. Report its funnel in separate cohorts:

Organic exposure: players who encountered X through ordinary search/browse/recommendation without subsidy.
Promoted exposure: players shown X through exceptional placement.
Subsidized conversion: purchases partly or fully funded by the platform.
Unsubsidized conversion: purchases using the player's own eligible spending.

The denominator must begin with eligible exposures, not purchases or GMV. Track exposure → inspection → acquisition → meaningful start → completion → voluntary replay/return → later creator-content purchase. Never combine subsidized and unsubsidized transactions into a vanity “marketplace demand” number.

Creator-facing records should identify what compensation came from players versus platform subsidy and what discovery support was exceptional. Player-facing placement should disclose material sponsorship/promotion plainly without turning every recommendation into legalistic clutter. Prominence is distribution, not certification of quality.

Creator compensation follows the disclosed terms attached to the transaction; platform subsidy cannot secretly reduce the creator's promised compensation. Payer remains distinct from reviewer/governor.

Expansion gate: marketplace scaling pauses when either (a) review/remediation/support costs per accepted encounter remain structurally too high relative to demonstrated economic value, or (b) creator encounters depend heavily on continued promotion/subsidy while showing weak completion, voluntary reuse, or subsequent unsubsidized demand. Do not invent thresholds until baseline costs and behavior exist.

Strongest failure: subsidized acquisition creates impressive transaction volume that disappears immediately when support is removed.

Smallest test: rotate comparable reviewed encounters through ordinary, prominent, and subsidized conditions with clearly recorded exposure eligibility. Then remove exceptional support. If apparent demand collapses while review/support costs remain high, do not expand marketplace supply merely because subsidized GMV looked strong.

Godz 2 Response [internal record ID omitted] Godz2:R19-01 — Separate supported discovery from demonstrated demand

For this encounter, record two independent conditions: how it was discovered and who funded the purchase. Distinguish editorial placement, paid placement and ordinary discovery; separately distinguish player-funded, partially subsidized and fully funded access. Prominence can help players discover something they genuinely value, but the resulting purchases cannot establish demand without that support.

Report eligible offer exposures and resulting purchases within each condition. Do not divide purchases by all platform users or present subsidized transaction value as player spending. Record refunds, satisfactory completion, voluntary replay and subsequent player-funded purchases separately. A complete one-session encounter need not generate repeat play; interest in another encounter may be the more relevant measure.

Label prominent placement with its actual basis. Disclose sponsorship and the player’s actual payment before acceptance. Creator statements should distinguish commission payments, sales-based compensation, platform-funded purchase support, refunds and any contractual deductions. Do not imply guaranteed earnings or require recipients to promote, review or thank the creator.

Smallest proposed comparison: offer the same approved version to comparable eligible audiences with and without prominent placement, separating subsidy conditions. Keep descriptions and access requirements consistent; disclose actual prices and funding honestly. Observe post-access satisfaction, then test a concrete subsequent offer without subsidy. Small samples establish directional evidence, not market-wide demand.

Track review and remediation costs—including rejected submissions, creator support and dependency maintenance—against net platform receipts after creator compensation and variable delivery costs. Assess fixed marketplace investment separately.

Expansion gate: predeclare revision and stop criteria from measured costs and a bounded experiment budget. Pause broader intake when review queues exceed funded capacity, unresolved defects accumulate, or demand disappears outside support with no credible economic path. Continue successful curated commissions if justified; weak marketplace evidence need not invalidate the encounter or its creator. All tests remain proposed.

Godz 4 Response [internal record ID omitted]

Round 19 — Subsidy Must Not Masquerade as Demand

Godz4:R19-01 — Track the funnel by acquisition condition.

Scenario: one reviewed creator encounter receives prominent official placement and some player purchases/access are subsidized.

Report separately:

organic discovery → exposed → inspected → acquired → started → completed → voluntarily reused/replayed → creator's next encounter acquired

versus the same funnel for promoted discovery and subsidized acquisition. Never combine them into “marketplace GMV” or a single conversion number that implies independent demand.

The denominator matters: prominent placement should report eligible exposures, not merely purchases. Subsidized access should record who funded it and distinguish player-paid, platform-funded, sponsor-funded, and gifted participation.

Creator compensation: before participation, state what actions generate compensation, what costs/adjustments can affect it, timing/conditions of payment, and whether promotional subsidies alter creator compensation. Do not retroactively change economics because placement performed poorly. Attribution and payment remain separate from governance or ownership.

Player disclosure: label promoted placement and funded access clearly enough that players understand why they are seeing it and whether they personally pay. Promotion cannot be presented as neutral popularity.

Expansion gate: record per-encounter review, rights investigation, remediation, support, refunds, discovery operations, and creator assistance. Marketplace expansion should pause if additional creators require substantial bespoke review/support while accepted encounters show weak voluntary completion, weak subsequent creator-content use, or acquisition that collapses when subsidy/placement is removed.

Strongest failure: subsidized prominent releases generate impressive transaction volume while proving only that free, highly visible content gets consumed.

Smallest test: run a bounded curated cohort with acquisition-source labels, then reduce/remove special placement and subsidy for an eligible follow-up. Compare voluntary discovery, completion and subsequent creator-content selection while separately measuring full review/support cost. No single vanity metric qualifies as marketplace demand.

Round19 — Godz3 actualreview

F-R19-01: after one curated external encounter passes rights/playability review, test a small catalog of approved work against actual player demand. Creatorcount, submissions, AIgeneratedvolume and showcasedemos don't establish sellthrough or retention. Keep paidpromotion/sponsorship labels and editorialselection separate from objective gameplay quality. No boughtworldauthority or exclusive progressfacts.

Discovery shows actual playableoffer, creatorchosen attribution, supported scope/versions/dependencies, preview with truthful outcome limits, price only when authorized, and userfit. Sort initially by transparent editorialthemes and compatibility; no opaque engagement-maximizingfeed required. Player can find complete experiences without mandatorysocialsharing.

Compensation proposal: explicit revenuebasis, platform/service/payment/refund cost treatment, payouttiming, chargeback risk, update/support responsibility and right to withdraw futurelisting. Don't promise income or publish unagreed percentages. Keep subsidy/grant separate from organicsales, and creator/founder/friend purchases separate in demand analysis.

Pilot measure eligibleoffer exposures, starts, purchases whereauthorized, satisfyingcompletion, refunds/support, repeatchoice acrosscreators, and netcreatorproceeds vs time. Record platform review/discovery/support costs too. No rates without denominator or returningbuyers without actualsecondoffer. Smallcuratedsuccess can justify nextpilot, not open floodgates.

Failure: supply grows faster than genuineinterest, few promoted creators capture allsales, reviewload unrecovered, lowcreatorpayhidden behind grossGMV. Response capintake, commission specific unmetthemes with budget, improve fit/discovery or keep authoredstore. Do not cure weakdemand by generating moreinventory or pushing creators to buyvisibility.

Peercritique: adopt Godz2 orthogonal discovery andfunding axes, not exclusive organic/promoted/subsidized bins. AggregateGMV can be honestlyreported with decomposition, not substitute for customerfundedrevenue. Privategift can be genuine thirdpartywillingness to pay; distinguish sponsor/platform/circlefriend funding without dismissing generosity. Removingplacement decreases exposures; rawsalesdrop alone doesn'tprove badproduct. Compare eligible exposurequality and conversion, include distributioncost. Freshcohorts/time effects/repeat exposure confound rotations. A complete one-sessionencounter neednotearn replay; subsequentvoluntarychoice may relevant. GodzI no thresholdbeforeevidence should alignR14predeclared testcriteria after baseline beforeevaluation. Rejectedsubmission reviewcost belongsplatform economics too.
