### R10-MR-01 — Three Different Preservation Promises

**Basic G1 JSON export/import** preserves only the structured facts needed to reconstruct that supported G1 save: timeline identity within its local scope, morning/state, commitments and completed preparation, retained evidence with provenance distinctions, notebook/state required for completion, and format/version information. Its promise is **portable data**, not permanent executability.

**Readable archive** preserves a human-inspectable representation of meaningful history: actions, observations, attributed testimony, artifacts, hypotheses and relevant provenance. It may remain readable even when the original experience can no longer execute. It does **not** promise identical presentation, models, voices, graphics, camera state, or future behavior.

**Supported executable checkpoint** additionally identifies the game/runtime version and required compatible capabilities necessary to resume from a defined state. Its promise should be:

> “Continuable on environments we currently declare compatible.”

Not “playable forever.”

Missing optional presentation assets may permit continuation with an explicitly described supported substitute if history/gameplay semantics remain unchanged. Missing consequential rules, dependencies, or capabilities block execution rather than silently approximating them.

Migration must preserve the original source and produce a **new migrated representation** with migration version and disclosed changes. Never rewrite the historical source to fit current schemas.

Damaged data should distinguish recoverable portions from unverifiable/missing portions. Preserve corrupt originals when practical; do not manufacture replacement history.

**Strongest failure:** “checkpoint” becomes interpreted as a lifetime guarantee, creating escalating support liabilities and undermining sustainable economics as runtimes disappear.

**Smallest test:** create exports with removed optional assets, missing consequential dependencies, older schemas, unknown fields and deliberate corruption. Attempt import/read/continue. Verify that supported cases preserve canonical facts, unsupported cases stop with specific explanations, migrations never overwrite originals, and no test claims recovery of information that was actually lost.

**Godz2:R10-01 — Preserve records without promising perpetual execution**

**Basic G1 JSON export/import:** preserve the selected life’s format/rules version, morning, practice commitment and consumed opportunity, completed subtasks, preparation, evidence with source distinctions, notebook, completion state and bounded causal history. Exclude unresolved operations: export the last verified state and identify that boundary. Import restores supported saved facts into an explicitly chosen slot, with replacement consent where occupied. This is distinct from G2’s selected relic package.

**Readable archive:** preserve the chosen recorded history, attribution, observation-versus-inference distinctions and relevant version information in a human-readable form. Clearly state any omissions. Reading it must not require the original runtime; reading does not establish that continuation is possible.

**Supported executable checkpoint:** preserve sufficient saved state plus an explicit compatibility description identifying the required rules, content and runtime versions. Referencing dependencies does not mean bundling or owning them. Any later model-dependent experience must disclose that restoring permitted configuration cannot guarantee identical behavior or provider availability.

When dependencies are missing, retain readable material and explain exactly which continuation is unavailable. Offer a materially different compatible continuation only as an explicitly approved derivative, preserving the original.

Migration operates on a copy, reports consequential changes and never rewrites preserved source history. Corrupt data remains available for inspection or recovery attempts; partial salvage must identify missing facts rather than invent them. No valid copy means restoration may be impossible.

**Strongest commercial failure:** selling archive access as a promise that a character will always remain playable. Paid support must specify supported versions and service boundaries; basic access to existing records stays free.

**Smallest proposed test:** round-trip a committed G1 save, then try an older version, missing content and damaged data. Compare saved facts, duplicate-progression behavior and disclosed limitations. Any silent historical change or false continuation promise fails the contract.

### Round 10 — Preserve History at Three Different Levels

**Godz4:R10-01 — Exportability is not identical to executability.**

**Basic G1 JSON export/import** must preserve the canonical saved facts needed by G1: schema/content versions, timelines/slots, current morning/state, commitments and completed work, evidence/events with sources/causes, characters, routines, relationships represented by G1, artifacts/provenance, and identifiers required to keep the two lives distinct. Import must never silently reinterpret unsupported fields.

**Readable archive** preserves human-understandable history even when continuation becomes impossible: important events, decisions, evidence, artifact provenance, authored/testimony/inference distinctions, timeline relationships and known missing dependencies. It is a durable *record*, not a promise that the original experience can always run.

**Supported executable checkpoint** additionally requires a declared compatible runtime/content environment sufficient to resume from that saved state and perform at least the supported continuation actions. It does **not** promise identical models, rendering, generated dialogue, assets, provider behavior or indefinite future execution.

**Missing dependencies:** preserve their references and explain the limitation. Optional presentation assets may degrade transparently; anything whose absence would change canonical consequences blocks that continuation rather than substituting invented behavior.

**Migration:** migration creates a new representation linked to the preserved source. It may transform schema, never historical facts. Lossy migration must disclose what cannot be represented.

**Damage:** retain the damaged original. Recover only from independently valid portions/checkpoints when their boundaries are known; never manufacture missing history.

**Strongest failure:** “successful migration” technically loads while subtly changing rules, evidence or provenance—creating alternate history disguised as compatibility.

**Smallest test:** export representative complete, partial, mixed and interrupted G1 states; test same-version import, one controlled migration, missing optional/required dependencies and deliberate corruption. Compare canonical facts before/after and require explicit failure whenever faithful continuation cannot be demonstrated.
# Round 10 — Godz 3 actual review

F-R10-01: distinguish basic G1 save JSON, readable archive, supported executable checkpoint, and derived media. A camera/share URL from gods-eye-view demonstrates none of the game-state continuation contract. It can be an optional pointer into a separate supported checkpoint only after implementation verifies linkage and permissions.

Supported checkpoint records content/schema/runtime compatibility, deterministic simulation state and causal history, permitted source assets/dependency identifiers, provider/model configuration references without secrets, and branch authority. Portability cannot include assets the user lacks permission to redistribute or recreate retired thirdparty voice/model behavior. Record missing dependencies honestly; readable archive remains useful without claiming playability.

Before migration copy source, validate format and capabilities, apply explicit supported mapping to a new version, and verify semantic invariants: morning, commitments, preparation, findings, attribution, permissions. Never silently reset invalid data, silently award equivalent new powers, or overwrite original. If unsupported, preserve file and explain available read/export/supported-version options. Do not automatically download arbitrary references carried by a checkpoint.

Support promise should name tested versions/platforms and known limits, not immortal replay. Local game progression should remain usable when optional AI/media services disappear; provider substitution is an explicit new behavior choice, not identical continuation. Secrets and raw private companion histories do not ride by default in shareable checkpoint.

Test fixture saved before/after each key boundary roundtrip on supported version, migrate one prior version, reject a future unknown schema, missing asset, corrupt field, inaccessible voice provider. Compare game facts not byte-for-byte graphics or generation. Cost/support burden remains unmeasured; no archive subscription hostage for basic export.

Peer critique: Godz4 'timelines/slots' must not export both lives when player selects one; preserve selected life identity, destination slot mapping separately. Godz2 excluding unresolved operations means resolve/verify boundary before export or explicitly export prior saved snapshot, not forget possibly committed cost. A cosmetic asset can carry puzzle evidence (sound cue, visible interval), so classify by role in actual gameplay, not filetype. Lossy migration may yield readable partial archive but cannot claim faithful same-life continuation. My runtime references must not export secret/provider endpoint private metadata by default; shareable versus personal backup distinct. Tests need actual supported continuation action and equal resulting facts, not serialization roundtrip alone.
